Selective High Schools

Selective High Schools
Selective high schools are generally aimed at catering for the educational needs of academically gifted students. The nature of these schools varies greatly from country to country and state to state. This site is aimed primarily at providing information about selective high schools in the state of NSW in Australia. A comparison with selective high schools in other systems will be made at some future stage of the development of this site.

Opportunity Classes
Information about opportunity classes (a form of selective schooling provided in primary schools) will also be provided.

Aims of Selective High Schools and Opportunity Classes
Selective high schools cater for highly achieving academically talented students.

They do this by providing an educationally enriched environment. They provide intellectual stimulation by grouping talented students together, concentrating school resources and using specialised teaching methods.
